A History of Little Havana by Guillermo Grenier & Corinna Moebius

Co-Author of “A History of Little Havana”

Dr. Guillermo Grenier and I have recently completed a book on the history of Little Havana, titled A History of Little Havana. This book is the first to provide an in-depth history of the neighborhood focusing on the contributions of Cubans and later Latino residents. Look for it on your bookshelves. The History Press published the book in February 2015.

Dr. Grenier is a sociologist and internationally known expert on the Cuban diaspora. He is co-author of This Land is Our Land: Newcomers and Established Residents in Miami (2003, University of California Press), A Legacy of Exile: Cubans in the United States (2002, Allyn and Bacon) and author of numerous other books and articles. He is also professor of Sociology in the Global & Sociocultural Studies department at Florida International University (the program through which I am earning my Ph.D.).

I’m a cultural anthropologist and resident of Little Havana who offers walking tours of the neighborhood, and who is currently completing my Ph.D. in Anthropology at Florida International University, also earning Graduate Certificates in African & African Diaspora Studies, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, and Afro-Latin American Studies.
